Hold the cap securely with your thumb placed at the center part and do not release your grip while washing. Using lukewarm water and a moisturizing, sulfate-free shampoo, gently wash the hair in a downward motion. Avoid rubbing, twisting, scrubbing, or bunching the hair. Take special care around the lace, avoiding any pulling or tension that could damage the delicate knots.
Apply a moisturizing conditioner from the mid-lengths down through the ends only. Do not apply conditioner to the lace or knots, as this can loosen the knots and contribute to shedding. Gently work the conditioner downward through the hair without rubbing or bunching. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water while continuing to support the cap and protect the lace. A deep-conditioning treatment can be used every 3–4 washes, or as needed, concentrating on the mid-lengths and ends and always avoiding the lace and knots.
Gently blot excess water with a soft towel—never rub, twist, or wring the hair. Place the wig on a foam or canvas head and allow it to air-dry whenever possible. You can use a hair dryer, however use at low heat as to not damage lace or knots.
If you need to secure the wig to a canvas head, use sewing ballpoint pins only. Never use T-pins, as they can puncture or damage the delicate cap and lace materials.
Before washing or styling, gently detangle the hair using a wig brush or wide-tooth comb. Begin at the ends and work your way upward in small sections, supporting the hair as you brush. Never pull or tug at tangles, and use extra care near the lace and knots.
Always apply a heat protectant before using hot tools. Keep heat at 350°F or below to help protect the integrity of the hair. Avoid excessive or repeated heat, which can cause dryness and damage. Take special care around the hairline, and never apply direct heat to the lace or cap.
Always gently comb or brush your wig after wearing it and before placing it on a wig stand or mannequin head. Begin at the ends and work your way upward to remove any tangles. Store your wig in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity. For longer-term storage, place your clean, detangled wig in its Maison Baché satin bag.
